Cedar, Basswood, Paulownia Rustic

Cedar

The charming, prestigious, aromatic, thermal timber from Canada.

Our Canadian western red cedar is responsibly sourced from eco-friendly, sustainable channels.

Cedar was originally chosen as the premier material to manufacture shutters from due to its thermal qualities, dimensional stability and its ease of manufacture.

This richly textured timber comes in stained or oiled. We still use mortise and tenon joints where the rails meet the stiles, creating the world’s most dimensionally stable timber shutter to stand the test of time.

All of our timber shutters come with a seven-year manufacturers warranty.

Basswood

Basswood is a lightweight furniture-grade hardwood, which grows straight and knot-free making it ideal for shutters.

We still use mortise and tenon joints where the rails meet the stiles, creating the world’s most dimensionally stable timber shutter to stand the test of time.

We can stain or paint basswood in one of 14 painted or 15 stained finishes.

All of our timber shutters come with a seven-year manufacturers warranty.

Paulownia Rustic

Paulownia rustic is a relative newcomer to the market but is literally making waves across the country.

This timber is also chosen for its lightweight and dimensional stability.

The one issue we have with this timber is that no matter how much we sand it, we still can’t get it as smooth as we would like. Enter the popular rustic finish. In a rustic format, this isn’t an issue as we are going for a raw, unfinished look.

We still use mortise and tenon joints where the rails meet the stiles, creating the world’s most dimensionally stable timber shutter to stand the test of time.
